If you stretch really hard and far you can claim a link from Star Trek to numerous sci-fi television shows. I'm going to go ahead and assert that there are only a few degrees of separation between Star Trek, and one of my favorite sci-fi television series, Futurama. Even if you're not willing to go with me on such a link, it is the case that Futurama hosts multiple Star Trek references. Dear Calculon likes to shout "Great Shatner's Ghost!" when surprised. The futuristic society of the series also has a culture wide ban on Star Trek fandom. And, even better, the character Zap Branigan can easily be read as a Captain Kirk parody. Futurama is also brilliant for bringing in a variety of cultural critiques, and odd ball humor. Here's a moment many Star Trek devotees agree with.
